Mary Hobein is thrilled to be an ensemble member of Tellin’ Tales. She has performed and served as mentor in four 6 Stories Up programs: Windy City (2012), Equality (2014) Haunted Chicago (2017) and Defiance (2021). More recently, she has performed in Hands Up! Body (2024.) She has performed at many theatre and opera companies in the Chicago area including Red Twist Theatre, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Main Street Opera, Stage Right Dinner Theatre, The Mystery Shop, Stage Center at NEIU, Savoyaires Light Opera Company, and First Folio Shakespeare Festival. Other credits include voice over, storytelling, and dramaturgy. Based on her own research and eccentric imagination, she has written and performed one-woman shows about Dolley Madison, Nellie Bly, Amelia Earhart, Lily Ledbetter, and Alma Rosé, who conducted a women’s orchestra at Auschwitz. She has her own versions of Suzy Snowflake and Na’amah, the Biblical character who really kept the Ark afloat. On a more serious note, she wrote and performed The Redemption of Mary Rose Keller as a fundraiser for a safe house for girls who had been sex trafficked.
